OntarioInterested community groups have the chance to improve the Great Lakes.  The Great Lakes Guardian Community Fund provides grants up to 25 thousand dollars for non-profit organizations, schools, First Nations/Metis and other local groups.  The money would be used for projects that have a direct environmental benefit to the Lakes. The deadline to apply is October 23rd. Examples of past approved projects range from planting trees and creating rain gardens to cleaning up shorelines and controlling invasive species.
