The former St. Mary’s College has been sold to a local company for 100-thousand dollars.  Huron Superior Catholic District School Board Director John Stadnyk confirmed that the old school property on Wellington Street east  has been bought by local company Universal Concepts.  Stadnyk says there were a couple of interested parties and it was finalized in July and sold to the highest bidder.  He says the idea was to get rid of the old building without having to dip into funds to maintain it…

Meantime the new St. Mary’s College is scheduled to open for the first day of classes on September 8th.  Stadnyk says they may have a public open house for the new facility later on after school begins—-they want to give staff and administration time to move in an properly set up.  There have been informal tours.
