August 25, 2015 — A safety test on the Sault Ste. Marie International Bridge involving fire department equipment and staff has been postponed until Wednesday. The tests had originally been slated for this morning.
Fire equipment and personnel from Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, are now scheduled to be on the bridge deck Wednesday, Aug. 26, beginning at 8:15 a.m. They will be working with International Bridge staff to evaluate the feasibility of using a ladder truck for assisting in the event a person becomes disabled and must be helped down from the higher parts of the bridge arch. The tests are expected to last until midmorning.
During the tests, one lane of traffic will be open under flag control.
