Support for a cure for ending blindness.  That’s the idea behind the Ride For Sight — an event that started more than 30 years ago that has grown to seven events across the country.  This is the 4th year for the event in Northern Ontario, which starts on Friday night at Searchmont Resort with an acoustic jam and bonfire.   The actual rides starts on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. with a motorcycle parade at Great Lakes Honda and the Batchawana Voyageur before returning to Searchmont.  The day continues with bike games, speeches and awards and performances from four local bands until Saturday night at 11:00 p.m.   Local First Nations dancers and drummers will also be there.  More than 100 motorcyclists and enthusiasts expected to participate.  More than 1 million Canadians are affected by retinal eye diseases such as retinitis pigmentosa and age-related macular degeneration.  Ride For Sight has raised more than 20 million dollars for research to fight retinal eye diseases.
