Money Sense magazine has released a new survey on the Best Places to Live in Canada, in it’s latest edition.  Boucherville, Quebec, Ottawa and Burlington rank as the top 3 … Sault Ste Marie slipped ten spots to 129 of the 209 cities surveyed.   Best Place to Live in northern Ontario was Sudbury at #81, down from 70th spot a year ago.   They’ve seen a 1.7 per cent increase in population over the past five years … compared to our 0.4% gain.   They have an estimated unemployment rate of  7.63%  compared to our 10.26%.   And Sudbury’s average household discretionary income came in at $44,600  on a median income of $74,400 … compared with our $40,000 discretionary income based on a close to $59,000 median household income.   Sudbury, North Bay, Timmins and Thunder Bay all ranked higher than Sault Ste Marie in the survey – Elliot Lake the only northern Ontario community that came in behind us, at 200.
