SchoolRankingsThe Fraser Institute has released its annual rankings of the top elementary and secondary schools in Ontario for 2013-14.  Among elementary schools served in Sault Ste. Marie and the Algoma District, Anna McCrea was ranked the highest in those areas — 204th overall with a rating of 8.3 out of 10, St. Mary’s French Immersion was second with a 7.9 rating, or 348th overall.  H-M Robbins was next with a rating of 7.7, or 445th place in the province.  More than three thousand elementary schools were involved in the rankings.   The Fraser Institute also ranked more than 700 high schools in the province.  The top-ranked secondary school in Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma District is Michipicoten in Wawa, ranked 163rd overall with a rating of 7.3 out of 10, followed by Elliot Lake Secondary School and CASS.  Both Catholic high schools in Sault Ste. Marie were just about even.  St. Mary’s College ranked 547th with a rating of 5.1, narrowly edging St. Basil Secondary School with a 5.0 rating, or 563rd overall. The top overall secondary schools was Minto in Ottawa.  More than a dozen elementary schools from the Greater Toronto Area share the top overall ranking in that category.  All of those schools earned a perfect 10 out of 10 rating.
