FireServices

Supplied by Sault Fire Services… Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services (SSMFS) would like to remind residents to move their clocks ahead one hour early Sunday morning as we convert to “Daylight Savings Time””. In conjunction with this annual practice SSMFS wants everyone to change their smoke and carbon monoxide alarm batteries.

Home owners and tenants should test their smoke and carbon monoxide (CO) alarms monthly and replace batteries regularly. The Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs strongly recommends installing new batteries at least once per calendar year.

All battery operated smoke /CO alarms are required to emit a warning sound, usually an intermittent chirp when battery power is depleted. When the warning chirp sounds replace your battery immediately …Never wait!

Change your batteries in the spring and fall and remember smoke/CO alarms do wear out. If your alarms are more than ten years old, Fire Services strongly recommends replacement.
